February 2014 Essex County Council recognised the path as public footpath.<\/p>\n<p>In this post <a href=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/north-street-to-vicarage-lane-or-mill-lane-a-public-right-of-way\/\">Norrth Street to Vicarage Lane or Mill-Lane a public right of way?<\/a> I described how the erection of the fence led to applications to Essex County Council for the path to be recognised as a public footpath.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gazette-news.co.uk\/news\/local\/clacton\/11012725.Campaigners_win_footpath_battle\/\">Feb 2014 Gazette<\/a> reports ECC has decided the path is a public footpath, so I guess at least part for the fence has to come down.<\/p>\n<p>Residents seem happy<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=2195\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2195\" title=\"waltonMereFootpathSuccess\" src=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/waltonMereFootpathSuccess.jpg\" alt=\"waltonMereFootpathSuccess\" width=\"458\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/waltonMereFootpathSuccess.jpg 458w, http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/waltonMereFootpathSuccess-300x216.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Curious Tendring District Council seemed happy to see the fence erected on what locals claim is public land.<\/p>\n<p>Seems TDC displaying much the same disregard for public land as in their plan to <a href=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/1200-sign-petition-protesting-tdc-plan-to-lease-naze-to-essex-wildlife-trust\/\">lease Naze to Essex Wild Life Trust<\/a>, despite much public oppostion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 2012 a new fence blocked a path by Walton Mere.
