{"id":2743,"date":"2015-10-30T11:01:40","date_gmt":"2015-10-30T11:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/?p=2743"},"modified":"2015-10-30T11:01:41","modified_gmt":"2015-10-30T11:01:41","slug":"tendring-population-falls-government-orders-plan-for-new-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/tendring-population-falls-government-orders-plan-for-new-homes\/","title":{"rendered":"Tendring Population Falls Government Orders Plan For New Homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2011 census shows Tendring had a population of 138,000 yet 2001 census 138,800 a fall of 800 people or 0.6%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here is a map of Tendring courtesy of Google.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/tendring-population-falls-government-orders-plan-for-new-homes\/tendring1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2744\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2744\" title=\"tendring1\" src=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tendring1.jpg\" alt=\"tendring1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"593\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tendring1.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tendring1-300x174.jpg 300w, http:\/\/jeremyshiers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tendring1-900x521.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The main towns are on the coast or along rivers.\u00a0 This is where developers are applying to build new homes.<\/p>\n<p>The government told Tendring District council to plan for 12,000 new homes or was it 10,000 or 8,000.\u00a0 We might expect at least 2 people per home so the government is requiring an increase in Tendring&#8217;s population of up to 24,000 &#8211; a 17% increase on the 2011 census.\u00a0 Will anyone actually live in these homes if they are built?<\/p>\n<p>Why if population fell between 2001 and 2011 census according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/ons\/rel\/mro\/news-release\/census-shows-increase-in-population-in-the-east-of-england\/censuseastenglandnr0712.html\">Office for Nation Statistics<\/a>.\u00a0 This report shows other areas in increase in population of over 10% during the same 10 years the population of Tendring fell.<\/p>\n<p>Why did Tendring&#8217;s population fall?<\/p>\n<p>The short answer is I don&#8217;t know, but this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tendringdc.gov.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/business\/regeneration\/economic%20developmnet%20strategy\/Socio-Economic%20Baseline.pdf\">Tendring Distring Council<\/a> report offers some clues.
