Francois Hollande and Segolene Royal lived together for around 30 years and had 4 children although never married. They split up in 2007, both wanted to be president of France.
Segolene Royal was adopted as socialist presidential candidate, which probably didn’t help their relationship. It probably didn’t help either Francois Hollande started a relationship with Valarie Trierweiler (aka Rottweiler).
It seems Hollande and Trierweiler first met in 1998 and began their relationship in 2005 whilst Treierweiler was still married and Hollande was still living with Royal.
News media last friday and over weekend have been full of stories of Valarie Trierweiler being so shocked at learning of Hollande’s affair with Julie Gayet she was hospitalised.
Why should she be? Both Trierweiler and Hollande have ‘form’.
What interests me about this story is the media, principally Sky News, have not mentioned Segolene Royal at all!
Surely this is a material fact.
Didn’t someone once say
He who controls the past controls the future
Seems to me this is just one small example of media’s extremely selective reporting.
Are they trying to control what we all think?
I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter they’re doing it anyway.
As a side note Hollande is due to meet Pope Francis on 24 January 2014, I wonder what they’ll talk about!
