Clacton Radio Control Model Club is for some reason based in Kirby-le-Soken. They fly from the field marked B on the map below, just to the east of Island Lane.
I have not been able to find a reference but I believe the recommendation is for model planes not to fly with 200 metres of properties.
I have maked 200 metres on the map both from the east end of Percival Road, where I live, and from the “Main Road”.
On the 28 June I saw a plane flying over the oak tree at the east end of Percival Road, circled and marked C on the map.
Looking east from my garden the oak in question can clearly be seen in the middle of the picture.
If a model plane were flying there the person flying it would probably not be able to see were it was, so it would be dangerous.
In addition BMFA (British Model Flying Association) have a rule that model planes should not be flown near power lines. As we are out in the country the power comes on overhead lines under where the plane was flying.
Other model aircraft clubs in Essex, for example
http://www.cmfa.org.uk/
http://www.scmfc.co.uk/
http://hedgehoppers.co.uk/
have websites which clearly identify their committee members, giving contact details and also displaying rules.
Clacton Radio Control Model Club has a website which seems to operate behind a wall of secrecy.
What do you think?
Do you live in Kirby and regard the planes as a nuisance?
Do you think they’re nothing to worry about?
